Thai authorities are moving against Bitget, one of the world’s larger crypto exchanges, saying it served local traders without the required permission. The Securities and Exchange Commission has asked police to investigate the platform’s operator, BG Limited, and has told another ministry to shut off access next month.

Which Bitget Services Will Be Blocked

From Dec. 5, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is expected to block Bitget’s website, its related domains and its mobile app inside Thailand. The ministry has the power to do this under a 2025 decree meant to protect investors and fight financial crime. The regulator is urging customers to deal with any funds they hold on the platform before the deadline arrives.

What the Regulator Accuses Bitget Of

The SEC says Bitget offered trading from 2022 through 2025, collected fees and advertised in Thai through local websites and social media. In its view, that broke the country’s licensing rules for digital asset businesses.

What Happens Next in the Case

The complaint has gone to the Economic Crime Suppression Division. Investigators will look at the case first, prosecutors will decide whether to bring charges, and courts will settle any criminal responsibility.
