Deal Terminated Amid Shifting Priorities

Trump Media, Crypto.com, and special purpose acquisition company Yorkville Acquisition mutually agreed to end plans for Trump Media Group CRO Strategy, citing current market conditions and changing business priorities. The venture, unveiled near the peak of last year’s treasury boom, would have created a company focused on accumulating Cronos tokens and earning yield through staking.

Trump Media had already purchased $105 million in CRO back in September 2025 as part of a broader partnership. CRO fell as much as 5% following the announcement.

Broader Retreat From Crypto Plans

The companies are also abandoning a separate arrangement involving Crypto.com servicing planned ETFs from Yorkville America, and scaling back plans to integrate Crypto.com-powered prediction markets into Truth Social. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn said the digital asset treasury market has become saturated, prompting the company to refocus on media, data licensing, and its pending merger with fusion energy firm TAE, which it hopes to close before year-end.

Bitcoin Holdings Still on the Books

Trump Media held 9,542 BTC at the end of the second quarter, though it moved 2,628 BTC, worth about $165 million, to Crypto.com-associated addresses earlier this week. The pullback comes as the CLARITY Act remains stalled amid ongoing debate over crypto-related conflicts of interest tied to Trump and his family.
