Trump Says King Charles State Visit Could Help Repair US-UK Relations

U.S. President Donald Trump tells BBC that upcoming state visit by King Charles III and Queen Camilla could help improve relations between the United States and the United Kingdom. In a phone interview, Trump described the King as a “fantastic” and “brave” leader and said the visit would have a positive impact on bilateral ties.

The royal couple is scheduled to begin a four day visit on Monday, with meetings planned at the White House. King Charles is also expected to hold a private discussion with Trump and deliver an address to Congress. After spending two days in Washington, the itinerary includes travel to New York, Virginia and Bermuda before returning to the UK. Officials say the visit will also mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and celebrate long-standing cooperation between the two nations.

Trump Comments on UK Policies and Leadership

Trump also discussed his relationship with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, saying ties could improve if Britain changes its immigration policies and expands oil and gas production in the North Sea. He added that while U.S. military actions in Iran did not require allied support, Washington expected stronger backing from partners, including the UK.
