Trump Pledges Iranian Assets Will Fund Damage Costs

In a Truth Social post, President Trump said any damage to ships, cargo or related property would be paid for using Iranian funds currently held and controlled by the United States, describing the policy as remaining in effect until further notice. Trump said the resulting costs could be substantial but called the approach fair and equitable.

Houthi Attack on Saudi Tankers Escalates Red Sea Tensions

Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for drone and missile strikes on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, saying the vessels caught fire as part of an ongoing blockade targeting ships using Saudi ports. Saudi Arabia confirmed one tanker, the Encelia, was set ablaze, adding that all crew members remained safe.

Trump Warns of Further Consequences

Trump cautioned the Houthis against further attacks, warning of severe military consequences, and reiterated that the US would hold Iran directly responsible for any additional strikes on shipping.
