Trump to Host Netanyahu and Zelenskiy at White House Amid Dual Crises

President Donald Trump is hosting separate White House meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, as both the war in Ukraine and the conflict with Iran reach critical turning points.

Reason for the Visit

Both leaders traveled to Washington to attend a memorial service for Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican who was a prominent supporter of Israel and Ukraine throughout his career. Graham died suddenly on July 11 from a heart ailment at age 71, just a day after meeting Zelenskiy in Kyiv during his tenth visit to Ukraine since the war began.

Zelenskiy’s Priorities

Ahead of his Oval Office meeting scheduled for late morning, Zelenskiy said anti-ballistic defense and strategic cooperation with the US remain his top priorities. He is also expected to press Trump on completing a drone deal and following through on a pledge made at the NATO summit to allow Ukraine to produce Patriot interceptor missiles domestically.

Netanyahu Meeting Comes Amid Tension

Trump’s meeting with Netanyahu follows growing frustration within the White House over stalled progress on a broader Iran settlement, along with pushback from some Trump supporters opposed to deeper US involvement in the Middle East. The talks are expected to cover both the Iran conflict and rising tensions between Israel and Lebanon. Trump has paused US airstrikes on Iran to allow diplomatic efforts another chance, though neither conflict shows signs of resolution.
