Reports suggest Trump weighing military options

According to reports, Trump has been holding discussions with senior advisers about whether to resume air strikes on Iran if diplomacy fails to break the current deadlock. Negotiations have stalled over Iran’s nuclear program and the future of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway carrying nearly 20% of global oil supplies.

Trump recently warned Iran it could face a “very bad time” if a peace deal is not reached. In a phone interview with French broadcaster BFMTV, he said Tehran has strong reasons to agree to negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed receiving messages from Washington showing interest in fresh talks, but stressed that Iran still does not trust U.S. intentions after recent military strikes.

Strait of Hormuz remains major point of tension

The biggest sticking point remains the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran has introduced a new shipping system and warned that access could remain restricted for countries not cooperating with Tehran.

Iranian parliament security committee chairman Ebrahim Azizi said only commercial partners working with Iran would benefit from the new mechanism and specialized fees would apply.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has stepped up mediation efforts. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi traveled to Tehran after recent visits by Field Marshal Asim Munir, aiming to restart stalled diplomacy.

Trump also discussed Iran with Chinese President Xi Jinping, while China continues to play a major role due to its heavy dependence on Iranian oil shipments and ties with Tehran.
