Two Texas brothers, Raymond Christian Garcia and Isiah Angelo Garcia, were sentenced on Friday to 15 years and 15.5 years in prison for holding a family at gunpoint for nine hours in Minnesota, all to get about $8 million in cryptocurrency. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota announced the sentences. Both men had pleaded guilty in June to one count of interference with commerce by robbery.

How the September 2025 Armed Robbery Unfolded

During the robbery, Isiah Garcia pressured the father to log into his crypto accounts and send funds to a wallet supplied by his brother. The pair later learned the father held more crypto on a hard drive style wallet at a cabin three hours away, according to earlier statements from prosecutors.

How Police Tracked the Brothers Down

The victim’s son eventually called 911, and the brothers ran. Investigators followed a Wendy’s receipt, video of Raymond Garcia renting a motel room in Roseville, Minnesota, and a rental car, which led police to the brothers’ home in Waller, Texas.

FBI Statement on the Violent Crime

FBI Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge Christopher D. Dotson called the actions targeted and extremely violent. He said the brothers violated the sanctity of a home, abducted a victim, terrorized a family at gunpoint for hours and disrupted an entire community in a brazen act of violence and greed.
