Two US service members were killed and another remains unaccounted for following Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting a base in Jordan on Friday, according to US military officials. US Central Command confirmed that four additional service members were medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan but have since been released, while others with minor injuries have already returned to duty.

Jordan’s military reported intercepting ten Iranian missiles fired into its airspace overnight, adding that no damage was reported on the ground. The attack comes as the United States continues its military response, having carried out a seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran after President Trump declared the earlier ceasefire agreement no longer in effect.
US Death Toll Continues to Climb
The overall American death toll in the conflict has now risen to 16, following confirmation this week that a Navy pilot who went missing earlier this month has been declared dead. This marks the second increase in the death toll within the same week. According to Iranian state media citing the country’s health ministry, at least 50 people have been killed and more than 500 injured in US strikes over the past three weeks.
Ceasefire Collapse Fuels Renewed Escalation
The United States and Iran had reached a preliminary agreement in June aimed at ending hostilities, but the deal fell apart within a month. Tensions have escalated sharply over the past week, with the US reimposing a naval blockade on Iranian ports while Iran has declared the Strait of Hormuz closed, a critical waterway for global oil shipments.
