How Permissioned Pools Work

Built on Uniswap v4, the framework lets asset issuers restrict trading to approved investors directly within the liquidity pool itself. Before any trade or deposit occurs, the pool checks whether a wallet has been approved by the issuer, allowing verified investors to trade through Uniswap’s automated market maker while issuers retain control over who can participate.

Built With Tokenization Partners

Launch partners include tokenization firms Securitize and Superstate, along with European digital securities platform Dowgo. Uniswap Labs’ head of ecosystem, Ken Ng, said the tool gives issuers a way to enforce their own compliance rules without building separate trading systems. Superstate CEO Robert Leshner said the framework moves compliance controls into the pool itself, something he called a missing piece of tokenization infrastructure.

Part of a Broader Institutional Push

The launch follows growing DeFi interest from institutions, including Aave’s Horizon lending venue for tokenized assets and BlackRock’s tokenized fund BUIDL becoming tradable on Uniswap earlier this year. Citi has projected the tokenized securities market could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030, with major firms including BlackRock, Apollo and Franklin Templeton already active in the space.
