US Military Transport Plane Lands in Moscow, Kremlin Says It Has No Details

A US military transport plane landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport on Tuesday, according to flight tracking data. The Boeing Globemaster, identified by tail number 07-7181, flew directly from Riga, Latvia, arriving in Moscow around 0700 GMT. It remains unclear whether the aircraft was carrying any cargo or passengers.

Kremlin Offers No Immediate Explanation

Russian officials said they currently have no information regarding the flight. The plane had earlier traveled from Camp Springs airbase near Washington DC to Riga on August 23 before continuing on to Moscow.

Echoes of Earlier Diplomatic Visits

This marks the first known direct flight of a US registered aircraft to Russia since January, when it carried special envoys for peace discussions with President Vladimir Putin regarding Ukraine. Talks between Washington and Moscow have largely stalled in recent months, further complicated by the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
