Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for an immediate end to fighting in the Middle East, stressing that diplomacy remains essential as tensions continue to disrupt global energy markets and trade routes.
Xi Jinping Urges Peace in Middle East Conflict
Speaking in Beijing, Xi said it is “imperative to stop the fighting” and emphasized that negotiations remain especially important to avoid further escalation.
According to Xi, ending the conflict would help reduce pressure on global energy supplies and restore stability to international trade. His remarks came as Beijing hosted major diplomatic visits, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, following Trump’s visit to China the previous week.
Iran Foreign Minister Visits Beijing for Diplomatic Talks
Before the visits by Putin and Trump, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi traveled to Beijing and met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The visit marked Araqchi’s first trip to China since the US-Israeli war on Iran, which triggered major disruptions in global oil supply.
After the meeting, Iran said Araqchi briefed Chinese officials on negotiations with Washington aimed at ending the conflict. He stressed that Iran remains prepared to defend itself while staying committed to diplomacy.
Araqchi later said Iran would only accept a “fair and comprehensive agreement.”
China Calls for Strait of Hormuz Stability
China also urged all parties to restore safe and normal passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments.
On the nuclear issue, Beijing said it appreciates Iran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons while supporting the country’s right to peaceful nuclear energy use.
