XRP Ledger’s Batch Upgrade Delayed to October 9 Following Validator Support Drop

An upcoming XRP Ledger upgrade originally set to activate September 29 has been delayed by at least ten days after validator support briefly dropped below the level required for activation. The feature, called Batch, would allow users to bundle up to eight transactions into a single operation, with an all-or-nothing option designed to prevent incomplete trades between buyers and sellers.

Validator Countdown Resets After Support Dip

XRP Ledger upgrades require sustained support from more than 80% of trusted validators over two consecutive weeks, and any drop below that threshold restarts the entire countdown, even if support quickly returns. The corrected version, called BatchV1_1, regained backing from 30 of 35 trusted validators, restarting the clock with an earliest possible activation date of October 9.

Second Attempt After Earlier Security Flaw

This marks the second attempt to introduce Batch, after developers withdrew an earlier version due to a critical signature-checking issue before it could activate. RippleX’s engineering lead noted that several projects are already being built anticipating the feature’s activation. Separately, another upgrade allowing account owners to delegate specific tasks to other accounts also lost the validator support needed to complete its own activation countdown.
