How it works
- 01
Initial margin = position value ÷ leverage — what you lock to open the trade.
- 02
Maintenance margin = position value × the maintenance rate. When your margin balance drops to it, the position is liquidated.
- 03
Isolated risks only this position's margin; cross uses your whole wallet, which pushes the liquidation price further away.
FAQ
How is the liquidation price calculated?
With Binance's single-position formula: LP = (wallet − side × qty × entry) ÷ (qty × MMR − side × qty). For isolated margin the 'wallet' is the position's own margin.
Why does it say None for a cross long?
When your wallet balance covers the whole position, the price would have to fall to zero before you're liquidated.
Is it exact?
It ignores fees, funding and other open positions, and Binance uses tiered maintenance rates for large positions — always check the order screen.
