Whale Wallet Stirs for First Time Since 2018
A Bitcoin wallet holding 2,931 BTC, worth around $188 million, moved its funds on Sunday after sitting untouched for nearly eight years. Onchain tracking service Onchain Lens, citing data from Arkham, reported the wallet transferred its holdings to a new, unmarked address at around 3:41 p.m. ET. The receiving address has not shown any further activity since.

Nearly Tenfold Gain Since Last Move
The wallet last moved coins back on October 23, 2018, when Bitcoin was trading at roughly $6,475. At current prices near $63,376, the holdings have grown close to tenfold in value. The exact reason behind the transfer isn’t known, though large movements like this are often seen as early signs that an owner may be preparing to sell.
Part of a Wider Pattern
Old wallets waking up has become a recurring theme during periods of high Bitcoin prices. In July 2025, one holder moved over $8.7 billion in Bitcoin after staying inactive for 14 years, one of the largest such transfers on record.
Bitcoin was trading at $62,676 at the time of writing, down about 1.2% over the past day.
