New Leadership Steps In

The firm has named Kathryn Masci and Daniel Plourde as interim co-chief financial officers. Masci, who joined Grayscale in 2020, previously worked in finance roles at Garrison Capital, Pzena Investment Management and Ernst & Young. Plourde joined the company in 2022 after holding senior positions at Gabelli Asset Management and State Street Global Advisors.

Pattern of Senior Departures

McGee’s exit follows the departure of John Hoffman, former head of distribution and partnerships, who left last fall and recently joined tokenized asset platform Ondo Finance. Grayscale has also brought in new leaders recently, including a chief marketing officer and a head of index products.

The changes come as Grayscale keeps its planned public listing paused due to market conditions, with no restart expected before the fourth quarter. The company’s flagship Bitcoin Trust, now an ETF, currently manages around $8.5 billion in assets.
