One US citizen repatriated from a hantavirus-affected cruise ship has tested mildly positive for the Andes strain of the virus, while another passenger is showing mild symptoms, according to the US Department of Health and Human Services. Both individuals are part of a group of 17 Americans being flown back from the affected vessel under strict medical supervision.

Biocontainment Measures and International Repatriation Efforts

Health officials confirmed that the two symptomatic passengers are travelling in specialized biocontainment units during the flight. They are expected to receive full medical evaluation upon arrival at designated treatment centers in the United States. Other passengers are also being transferred to quarantine facilities for observation and monitoring.
