Iran Propaganda Shift Focuses on National Unity

Across Tehran, large posters highlighting military strength, national pride and resistance have become more visible. Unlike earlier campaigns built mainly around religious themes, authorities are now leaning toward nationalist symbols to appeal to a wider public.

Images of military personnel, the Strait of Hormuz and historical Iranian figures are being used alongside state-organized events, including military-themed mass weddings and weapons training sessions held in mosques. State television has also shown women without headscarves during rallies, marking a notable shift from previous media restrictions.

Why Iran Is Changing Its Public Messaging

Political analysts say the move reflects changing public sentiment. Ali Vaez of the International Crisis Group argued that older ideological messages no longer connect with much of society, pushing authorities to rely more on national identity to rally support.

At the same time, Iran continues to face economic troubles worsened by conflict and sanctions. While officials present the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as a strategic success, many citizens remain doubtful about claims of national unity.

Public Reaction to Iran’s Wartime Narrative

Some Iranians see the public displays as symbolic rather than meaningful, arguing economic concerns remain the country’s biggest challenge. Others believe the messaging also serves as a reminder of the state’s security power during a tense period.
