The strike came just two days after Lebanon and Israel signed a US-brokered security arrangement meant to ease border tensions.

That deal allows a phased Israeli withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon alongside Lebanese army deployment, though Israeli forces can remain in an expanded security zone for now. The attack followed an earlier strike Sunday on Hezbollah militants and a rocket launcher in the Nabatieh area.

Hezbollah Calls It A Ceasefire Violation

Hezbollah said early Monday the strikes were a “flagrant” violation of the ceasefire it has otherwise upheld, warning it reserves the right to defend its people and territory. Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has already rejected the broader security agreement as a surrender to Israel and vowed continued armed resistance.

Netanyahu said Israeli forces will stay in the security zone and “continue to destroy terrorist infrastructure” to protect northern Israeli communities. More than a million Lebanese remain displaced by the conflict, which has run alongside the wider Iran war. Hezbollah and Iran say Washington promised to end hostilities in Lebanon as part of the broader memorandum signed two weeks ago.
