Israel Lebanon Ceasefire Implementation Begins as US Pushes Iran Peace Deal Progress
Israel and Lebanon have agreed to implement a ceasefire aimed at ending ongoing hostilities, according to the Trump administration. The move has raised expectations of progress toward a broader diplomatic deal involving Iran and regional security tensions.

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to implement a ceasefire aimed at ending ongoing hostilities, according to the Trump administration. The move has raised expectations of progress toward a broader diplomatic deal involving Iran and regional security tensions.
The agreement is conditional on a full halt of fire by Hezbollah, the Iran-aligned militia, along with the evacuation of its operatives from the South Litani sector. A joint statement from the US State Department followed negotiations held in Washington.
Although a ceasefire was previously agreed last month, fighting continued. Israel entered Lebanon in March targeting Hezbollah positions after cross-border attacks linked to support for Tehran.
Kuwait Airport Attack and Strait of Hormuz Tensions Escalate
Regional tensions intensified after an Iranian drone and missile attack on Kuwait International Airport killed one person and injured more than 60. The strike also damaged airport facilities and diplomatic missions, forcing a temporary suspension of flights before services resumed.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards denied responsibility, claiming US interceptor missiles caused the damage. The US military rejected this, saying Iranian drones deliberately targeted the airport.
US Central Command said it carried out defensive strikes in southern Iran, including missile sites and boats near the Strait of Hormuz, along with operations on Qeshm Island.
Trump Signals Possible Breakthrough in Iran Talks
US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran could see progress as early as this weekend. He added that efforts were underway to separate Lebanon related conflict issues from talks over reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s foreign minister said discussions have not ended but progress remains limited, with key demands including sanctions relief and access to oil revenues. Meanwhile, Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon continue, with at least six reported killed in recent attacks.
