Michelle Bond, wife of jailed former FTX executive Ryan Salame, has been ordered to stand trial on November 9 after a Manhattan judge denied her motion to dismiss the case.

Bond faces four charges tied to campaign finance violations stemming from her 2022 run for the US House of Representatives in New York. Prosecutors allege that Salame funnelled $400,000 in FTX funds into her campaign through a sham payment a direct violation of campaign finance law. Bond ran as a Republican in New York’s 1st congressional district but lost in the primary.

Why the Case Took This Long to Get to Trial

Bond’s defence argued that prosecutors had promised Salame she would not be charged as part of his plea deal. The judge rejected that claim last week and set the November trial date. Salame is currently serving a 7.5-year sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions. He tried to vacate his plea over the Bond charging issue but ultimately reported to prison in October 2024.

Where Other FTX Figures Stand Right Now

Bond’s trial will be one of the last major criminal proceedings connected to FTX’s 2022 collapse. Sam Bankman-Fried is serving 25 years after being found guilty on seven felony counts. His appeal was rejected earlier this month by the Second Circuit, leaving a Supreme Court appeal or a presidential pardon as his only realistic options. Caroline Ellison was released early in January after serving less than her two-year sentence. Nishad Singh and Gary Wang received time served after cooperating with prosecutors.
