Nvidia has introduced its new RTX Spark chip, a processor designed to bring advanced artificial intelligence capabilities directly to personal computers. Announced by CEO Jensen Huang ahead of the Computex technology conference in Taiwan, the new chip marks a major step in Nvidia’s strategy to reshape the future of computing through AI-powered devices.
Developed in collaboration with Microsoft and supported by Taiwan-based MediaTek, RTX Spark enables laptops and desktop computers to run AI agents locally rather than relying primarily on cloud-based infrastructure.
RTX Spark Aims to Create the AI PC Era
The RTX Spark chip is built to support agentic AI systems that can perform tasks autonomously and operate continuously on personal devices. Industry analysts believe this technology could significantly change how users interact with computers by shifting away from traditional application based workflows.
Alongside RTX Spark, Nvidia highlighted its Vera central processing unit (CPU), designed specifically for AI agents. Early adopters of Vera reportedly include OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX.
Nvidia Sees AI as a Major Growth Driver
Nvidia believes local AI computing represents a major market opportunity. Huang described the Vera CPU as a key future growth engine and pointed to a potential $200 billion market for AI-focused processors.
He also rejected concerns that AI will reduce software engineering jobs, arguing that growing AI adoption is increasing demand for skilled developers and accelerating innovation across the technology sector.
