Russian Missile Strike Hits Kyiv, Sparking Fires and Injuring One

Russian forces launched a missile attack on Kyiv early Sunday, sparking fires in at least two districts of Ukraine’s capital, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The city’s military administration confirmed that one person was injured in the strike.

Writing on Telegram, Klitschko said falling debris caused a fire in a non-residential area of a northern suburb, where several cars were also set ablaze. A separate fire broke out in an area just south of the city center. Reuters reported hearing explosions throughout the city, while unofficial Telegram channels shared photos showing market stalls burning in the affected suburb.

Air Alerts Sound Twice Overnight

Air alerts were activated twice after 2 a.m. local time, each lasting roughly half an hour, as residents braced for the attack. The strike adds to a pattern of intensified Russian air assaults on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in recent weeks.
