Russian Strikes Kill 12 in Kyiv Region as Attacks Continue for Sixth Day

Russian air attacks killed 12 people and wounded several others in Kyiv and the surrounding region early Tuesday, marking the sixth straight day of strikes on Ukraine’s capital. Authorities reported that swarms of drones, many powered by jet engines and harder to shoot down, have battered the city and nearby areas for five consecutive days, damaging homes, warehouses, and disrupting daily life through prolonged air-raid alerts.

Railway Facilities and Residential Buildings Targeted

In Kyiv, eight people died and multiple fires broke out across the city. Russian ballistic missiles struck a railway depot and other rail facilities, killing six workers, according to the head of Ukraine’s state rail company. In Boryspil, just outside Kyiv, four people were killed and 13 injured after strikes hit a residential building and other locations. An Indian citizen was among those killed overnight, Ukraine’s president confirmed.

Ukraine Calls for More Air Defense Support

Ukraine’s foreign minister urged allied nations to tighten economic pressure on Russia and revisit plans to use frozen Russian assets abroad to fund Ukraine’s defense. He also pressed allies to send more air defense systems, noting Ukraine is running low on U.S.-supplied Patriot interceptors needed to stop ballistic missiles. Ukraine’s air force said it intercepted five ballistic missiles during the overnight assault.

Attacks Extend to Black Sea Region and Russian Territory

Strikes also hit a border crossing near Romania in Ukraine’s Odesa region, further disrupting agricultural exports that have already been hurt by repeated port attacks. Thousands of families in the area lost electricity. Meanwhile, Ukraine has stepped up its own attacks on Russian oil and logistics infrastructure, with fires reported at an export terminal in Ust-Luga and damage to facilities in Russia’s Samara region.
