Stablecoin transaction volume touched a new high of $1.79 trillion in June, climbing 63% from May’s $1.1 trillion. The figure edges past the earlier peak of $1.78 trillion recorded in February and marks a 125% jump compared to the same month last year.
USDC Leads the Pack, USDT Follows
Circle’s USDC handled the bulk of activity, accounting for roughly 67% of volume at $1.21 trillion, while Tether’s USDT contributed about 32%, or $576 billion, despite holding a larger overall market cap. PayPal’s PYUSD ranked third, processing $2.42 billion during the month.

Base and Ethereum Drive Network Activity
Coinbase’s layer-2 network Base topped the charts among blockchains, moving $565 billion, or 31.5% of total volume, narrowly ahead of Ethereum’s $562 billion. Tron came in third with $320 billion, close to 18% of the total.

Analysts point to this growth as proof that stablecoins are becoming core financial infrastructure, supporting payments and liquidity even as broader crypto markets remain under pressure. Industry watchers expect the momentum to continue as adoption widens across banking and payment sectors.
