Typhoon Dolphin Approaches China’s Coast, Triggering Flood Warnings

Typhoon Dolphin is set to hit China’s eastern coastline with powerful winds and heavy rainfall, prompting flood and landslide alerts across several provinces. The storm already injured six people and cut power to over 50,000 buildings in Japan’s Okinawa before heading toward China, where authorities pulled offshore workers to safety and returned vessels to port.

Rainfall and Wind Forecast

Winds could reach up to 162 km/h, similar to a Category 2 hurricane, with some areas of Zhejiang expecting up to 500mm of rain through Monday.

Multiple provinces have activated flood and landslide emergency responses, with teams sent to the worst hit regions. Shanghai’s Yangshan port moved over 500 ships to shelter ahead of landfall.
