US Sending Military Team to Lebanon

Separately, a U.S. military delegation is expected to travel to Lebanon in the coming days to support implementation of a ceasefire framework between Israel and Hezbollah. According to a Financial Times report citing senior Lebanese officials, a team from Central Command will arrive in Beirut ahead of technical discussions between Lebanese and Israeli representatives set for Rome next week.

Framework Deal Enters Implementation Stage

The Rome talks will focus on carrying out a U.S.-brokered agreement reached on June 26, which calls for a phased Israeli troop withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported this week that fatalities from Israel’s ongoing military campaign have reached 4,321, with more than 12,200 people injured since the fighting escalated in early March. Israeli troops remain positioned in parts of southern Lebanon, including areas held for years and territory seized during the 2023-2024 conflict, having advanced over 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory during the most recent push.

Reports from Al Arabiya indicate the U.S. also plans to send a separate team to southern Lebanon to help the Lebanese army confirm that areas are free of Hezbollah presence, further supporting the broader ceasefire effort.
