US Strikes Iranian Military Targets as Tehran Launches Retaliatory Air Base Attack

Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated again after the U.S. military confirmed strikes on several Iranian military positions along the Gulf coast. According to U.S. Central Command, the operation was carried out after Iran allegedly shot down an American MQ-1 drone operating over international waters.

The U.S. said its fighter aircraft destroyed Iranian air defense systems, a ground control station, and two attack drones that were considered a threat to maritime traffic in the region.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced that they launched a retaliatory strike against an air base used by U.S. forces. Officials did not identify the location of the base. Shortly afterward, reports from Kuwait indicated that air defense systems intercepted incoming missiles and drones as warning sirens sounded across the country.

The latest exchange comes despite an ongoing ceasefire and continued diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict that began in February. Key disagreements remain over sanctions relief, frozen Iranian assets, regional security issues, and Iran’s nuclear program.
