The Trump family backed crypto venture is turning to token purchases to steady its price. World Liberty Financial says it intends to buy more WLFI after the coin slid roughly 10% since Tuesday’s midterms and extended its 2026 decline to over 66%.
Why the WLFI Price Is Under Pressure
The slump arrived as Republicans did worse than expected at the polls. The TRUMP memecoin and Trump Media shares also touched record lows. On election day, Tron founder Justin Sun asked a federal court to sanction World Liberty in his lawsuit over about 4 billion frozen WLFI tokens, adding another source of pressure.
The company posted that it may use fees earned from the reserves backing its USD1 stablecoin, plus other sources, to pay for the purchases. Its stated aim is to boost governance participation and give more voting power to long term holders. It called buybacks an ongoing part of its strategy, with pace and size depending on ecosystem growth and governance impact.

Earlier Buyback Efforts
This is not the first time the project has tried this approach. In April it disclosed $65.6 million in open market buybacks made over the previous six months.
