Hami Nuclear Silo Field Sees Major Military Construction

Analysts reviewing satellite imagery said the large scale desert development stretches across thousands of square kilometers. The area includes two octagon shaped military compounds built near the Hami silo field, located roughly 140 to 230 kilometers away.

According to security experts, the launch pads may support mobile missile launchers, air defense systems, electronic warfare units, and command operations. Some larger pads could potentially host road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile launchers.

China Strengthens Second-Strike Nuclear Capability

Military scholars believe the expanding infrastructure supports China’s long standing strategy of maintaining a credible nuclear deterrent. Under its “no first use” policy, China says it would only launch nuclear weapons in retaliation to an attack.

Recent satellite images also showed military activity around one northern facility, including vehicle movement, temporary structures, and what analysts described as camouflaged launch areas.

Experts say the project signals a major effort to protect China’s land based nuclear forces as tensions over regional security issues continue to rise.
