Trezor and SafePal wallet owners face a rising risk of phishing attacks after two separate data breaches exposed personal information belonging to more than 54,000 customers. The incidents come as Galaxy Digital slashes its forecast for the CLARITY Act's passage this year down to just 10%, a sharp drop from its earlier 75% estimate in May.

The incidents come as Galaxy Digital slashes its forecast for the CLARITY Act’s passage this year down to just 10%, a sharp drop from its earlier 75% estimate in May.

Wallet Breaches Expose Customer Data

Trezor confirmed roughly 14,000 users were affected through a breach at its shipping partner, ShipMonk. Customers who received orders from the US, UK, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal between May 10 and August 8 are now at elevated risk. Separately, SafePal disclosed unauthorized access to nearly 40,000 customer records, including names, addresses, and order details. The company says it has already taken down more than 30 fraudulent sites linked to the breach.

CLARITY Act Faces Narrow Path in Senate

With only 14 working days left when the Senate returns on September 14, analysts say the bill would need to dominate the entire session to pass. If it stalls, the SEC and CFTC are expected to issue their own crypto market rules instead. A White House meeting this Wednesday will bring together officials and executives from Coinbase, Ripple, Chainlink, and other firms to push the bill forward.

Other Market Developments

The CFTC and several states remain locked in a dispute over prediction market oversight, while the Ethereum Foundation shifts away from the Poseidon hash function in its post-quantum roadmap. Tether also completed its first full independent financial audit, receiving a clean opinion from KPMG.
