Iran Closes Hormuz Strait After Ceasefire Violations in Lebanon
Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, blaming the United States and Israel for violating commitments under the recently signed peace memorandum of understanding.

Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, blaming the United States and Israel for violating commitments under the recently signed peace memorandum of understanding.
According to Iranian media reports, the decision was made by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters after Israeli military strikes continued in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire that took effect on Friday.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed that Iran’s negotiating team would soon depart for Switzerland for further diplomatic talks. The delegation is expected to push for enforcement of US commitments under the agreement, including pressure on Israel to stop attacks in Lebanon.
Israeli Strikes Continue Despite Truce
Lebanese media reported that at least five people were killed in Israeli airstrikes and drone attacks across southern Lebanon overnight. Meanwhile, the Israeli military said Hezbollah launched more than 50 projectiles toward Israeli forces in the region.
The latest violence has raised concerns about the future of the ceasefire and broader regional negotiations aimed at reducing tensions across the Middle East.
