Iran has rejected U.S. demands in ongoing negotiations, saying Washington has no right to dictate terms as diplomatic exchanges continue over a possible ceasefire extension and regional maritime control.
Iran Nuclear Position and Ceasefire Priority
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Iran has not reached any final understanding with the United States, despite continued exchanges of messages. He emphasized that ending the war remains Tehran’s top priority, while nuclear enrichment details are not part of any finalized agreement.
Baghaei said Iran “said goodbye to the language of ‘must’ 47 years ago,” adding that Western governments cannot impose conditions on the Islamic Republic. He stressed that Iran makes decisions based on its own national interests and legal rights.
Strait of Hormuz and Maritime Control Dispute
Iran rejected U.S. demands related to shipping routes, saying vessels must coordinate operations with Iran . Baghaei called the U.S. position an “illegal naval blockade,” arguing it violates the ceasefire and disrupts international freedom of navigation.
He said Tehran will wait to see whether Washington actually ends what it calls unlawful actions or whether the U.S. statements are merely a “propaganda claim.”
No Final Deal Yet as Talks Continue
Baghaei confirmed that messages are still being exchanged between both sides, but no final agreement has been reached. He added that Iran will only respond based on actions taken in practice, not political statements.
