Trump Signals Timeline For Iran Resolution

Speaking to reporters alongside Gulf Cooperation Council members, Trump said the Iran situation could end right after the midterms, though he added he wasn’t certain of the exact timing. He noted he isn’t running for office and said his focus remains on ending the nuclear threat rather than election outcomes. Trump also confirmed that US officials held a three-hour meeting with Iran’s delegation earlier that day, describing it as productive.

Iran Lays Out Conditions For Hormuz Reopening

Iranian state media reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi met with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on the sidelines of the assembly, where Iran presented conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, including lifting the naval blockade, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and ending hostilities across all fronts.

Trump also met separately with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Japan’s Sanae Takaichi, and Britain’s Andy Burnham during a packed day of UN-related diplomacy.
