Details of a proposed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the U.S and Iran have emerged, outlining a framework aimed at easing tensions and restoring economic ties.
According to the reported draft, the United States would lift sanctions on Iran, release frozen Iranian assets and remove restrictions on the country’s oil exports. Washington would also withdraw forces positioned around Iran, lift the naval blockade on Iranian ports and commit to non-interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
Strait of Hormuz Reopening Included
Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days, while the United States would be expected to end naval restrictions during the same period. The strategic waterway is one of the world’s most important routes for global oil shipments.
Nuclear Talks to Continue Later
The draft reportedly leaves negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and broader economic issues for future discussions. Iran’s ballistic missile program and its support for regional proxy groups would not be included in the talks. Officials emphasized that the agreement remains under review and has not yet been finalized.
