U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange traded funds are on track to surpass $2 trillion in cumulative trading volume, marking a major milestone less than two and a half years after their launch in January 2024. The achievement highlights the rapid growth of Bitcoin investment products, even as the market faces increased selling pressure and investor withdrawals.
Bitcoin ETFs Approach Historic Trading Volume Record
Cumulative trading volume across U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reached approximately $1.99 trillion as of June 11. At the current pace of daily trading activity, ranging between $2 billion and $5 billion, the sector could cross the $2 trillion mark within days.

The growth accelerated during Bitcoin’s major rallies in 2024 and 2025, particularly after Donald Trump’s presidential election victory, when the cryptocurrency reached new record highs and investor demand surged.
BlackRock IBIT Dominates Bitcoin ETF Market
BlackRock’s IBIT remains the largest spot Bitcoin ETF, accounting for 73.7% of total trading volume. The fund also leads assets under management with roughly $49 billion, helping push the entire U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF market above $76 billion in managed assets.
Bitcoin ETF Outflows Increase During Market Downturn
Despite the trading volume milestone, investor sentiment has weakened in recent months. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have recorded about $7.6 billion in net outflows since Bitcoin reached its all-time high near $126,000 in October. Year-to-date outflows have reached roughly $3 billion, including a recent 13-day streak totaling $4.3 billion.

New Bitcoin Income ETF Nears Launch
Meanwhile, BlackRock is preparing to expand its crypto offerings with the proposed iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF, a product designed to combine spot Bitcoin exposure with income generated through options-based strategies.
