US–China Relations and Trade Negotiations Update
U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping resumed formal talks in Beijing, focusing on trade agreements, geopolitical stability, and strategic cooperation.
Xi warned that mishandling the Taiwan issue could trigger serious conflict, reaffirming Beijing’s long standing position. Trump described Xi as “all business” while emphasizing improved relations and potential economic cooperation.
According to officials, both countries have made progress on trade deals involving U.S. agricultural exports, beef, and Boeing aircraft. Around 200 Boeing jets were reportedly discussed, although below earlier market expectations.
The talks also touched on global energy security, including interest in stabilizing the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas supply.
While trade momentum continues, unresolved issues remain, including tariffs, Taiwan policy, and export controls on advanced semiconductor chips. Both leaders agreed to continue negotiations to stabilize economic relations.
