Ukraine launched a new wave of long range drone attacks targeting key Russian energy facilities, including Moscow’s largest oil refinery and an oil depot in the Krasnodar region. The strikes are part of Kyiv’s ongoing effort to disrupt Russia’s fuel production and logistics networks.
According to reports, drones targeted the Kapotnya oil refinery in southeastern Moscow, causing a fire and damaging a primary processing unit. The refinery is one of the most important fuel production facilities serving the Russian capital.
At the same time, another drone strike ignited a fire at an oil depot in Russia’s Krasnodar region. Regional authorities confirmed the incident, while Ukrainian officials described the operation as part of a broader campaign aimed at weakening Russia’s energy infrastructure.
Russian Fuel Supply Faces Growing Pressure
The latest attacks come as fuel shortages are reportedly affecting more than 25 Russian regions. Analysts estimate that repeated Ukrainian strikes have forced approximately 2.14 million barrels per day of refining capacity offline, representing nearly one-third of Russia’s total refining output.
The disruption has increased pressure on Russia’s domestic fuel market and created additional challenges for energy distribution across the country.
Energy Facilities Remain Key Targets
Since the start of its long-range strike campaign, Ukraine has increasingly focused on oil refineries, fuel depots and other strategic energy assets deep inside Russian territory. The objective is to reduce Russia’s ability to support military operations while increasing economic costs associated with the conflict.
The attacks on the Kapotnya refinery and Krasnodar oil depot mark another escalation in the battle over energy infrastructure, an area that has become a critical front in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
